| Maxxium New Zealand, international wine and spirits importer, had outgrown their existing office and personal workspace was becoming a real issue. Meetings were held off-site at considerable expense, as meeting rooms were a rare commodity and in increasing demand.
Growing into the space Maxxium had sublet for a short term, meant they were able to implement their expansion plan without relocating premises and minimizing disruption to their business.
The renovation provided the teams with a more spacious and organised work environment. The new boardroom catered for their growing sales team and product samples were displayed more effectively. A larger, funky staff area which doubles as a client entertainment space was also part of the brief. We were asked to plan the changes and manage the entire process including overseeing the fit-out alterations and office reconfiguration.
Supply Chain Manager, George Patterson, referred to the office environment as being not too dissimilar to the Auckland housing crisis and the use of in-fill housing! "We had used the design services of Malcolm & Sumner before and what they had done was perfect for us, considering the size of Maxxium, with a little growth in mind."

"As soon as we secured the space next door, we called in the experts. Diane of Malcolm & Sumner was quick to respond to the call, and upon her first visit, we knew she was the right person for the job."
"Although we wanted to be consulted through the process, we didn't have time to be in the detail and this aspect was managed superbly.
"Diane's team of professionals did their jobs with fantastic results coupled with very bright ideas.
"Whenever we decided that a suggestion was not quite right for us, it was never taken personally and another great proposal was presented in no time. The final result was nothing short of fantastic.
"Even during the work itself, we were not hugely disrupted and were always given advanced warning. The physical move itself was a lot less painful than we ever imagined it to be. Due to the forward planning, there was very little disruption to our operation.
"The team at Maxxium love their new working environment, especially the extended kitchen, bar and lounge. Friday afternoon cocktails haven't been the same since.
“Don't attempt to project manage something as significant as this. You owe it to yourself and your work colleagues to call in the pros. Malcolm & Sumner are damn good at their jobs. If we moved again, I wouldn't hesitate to hand it all over to them."
