Malcolm & Sumner
Oakridge Pool & Spa Resort

Northern Link Developments purchased a resort with plans to expand the accommodation, restaurant and complex facilities.  The project included the construction of 27 new apartments, conference centre and spa.

The Swedish partners were looking for someone, familiar with the NZ industry, to provide design direction and coordinate all the interior aspects of the project including colour schemes, finishes and furniture for the project. Our brief included furniture layouts, selection of hard and soft furnishings, accessories and kitchenware.

We were responsible for ordering all the F,F&E.  This included liaising with manufacturers, coordinating shipping and onsite supervision of the installation.

Patrick Waser said, due to time frame constraints, they soon realized they didn’t have the resources or expertise to source product and coordinate the design."

“It was helpful having someone to sort out all the details.  Having John on site to receive the furniture and overview the installation was a great help to us."

“We spoke to 3 companies before selecting our designer.  As a customer it’s hard to know who to use.  With our tight time constraint, having someone who was prepared to take the full responsibility for the job took a huge load off our minds.

"Diane was very flexible and approachable.  She worked well with all of the partners dealing with various aspects of the project.  This freed our time to concentrate on our other areas of responsibility we had for the project.

“We got very good value for money.  Getting advice on suitable commercial furniture selections and prices negotiated on our behalf meant for a very successful outcome.

“We are often asked by South Island developers if we can recommend people.  We don’t refer people unless we have confidence in them.  From a performance point of view we wouldn’t hesitate to use Malcolm & Sumner again.

“John & Diane were great to work with personality-wise.  We appreciated their honesty.  You could tell they really cared."
