International automotive glass specialist, Smith & Smith were expanding and made the decision to relocate their New Zealand head office. The desire to co-locate their distribution centre, the need for additional warehouse space, upgrade the office environment and accommodate a larger call centre was the catalyst to move. They were keen to find professional corporate premises they would be proud to invite key clients to.
Smith & Smith's project coordinator Fiona Smith said, managing design & fit-out, IT, security, purchases and liaising with divisions is a lot to coordinate. It was helpful to have professional advice and committed partners and suppliers who were honest about what could and couldn't be done during the renovation. We were able to negotiate with all parties and had the flexibility to adjust our ideas which made for a better solution."

“We now have a professional ergonomic workplace that we're proud of. We were able to make the changes we wanted for all our divisions. They are now working better as a team."
“Staff have given us positive feedback about the changes. There's more pride in the working environment than Sultan St. They like and respect their surroundings and take care of it, right down to the canteen. It reflects well on the company."
“We were previous happy customers of Malcolm & Sumner. We didn't have the tools or capabilities to do the space planning and design. We couldn't have come up with the functionality and quality of our offices without them."
"Our designers knew what they're talking about. Diane helped us convince the decision-makers we were doing the right thing."
“We'd pass on a request to M & S and they sorted it. They worked on technical issues with the landlord and their builder which meant we were able to hand over a chunk of the work, giving us more time to concentrate on staff issues and upgrading internal systems."
“You can tell our space has been professionally designed. Paying for advice is money well spent, compared to the overall cost of the project. It's good value for money to invest in quality finishes and furniture given the longevity of the commitment."
"Someone has to be in charge. The success or failure of the project depends on it. Making informed decisions will achieve the right result."
“Smith & Smith now have a head office that better reflects our corporate brand. The new exterior finishes of the building give us a real corporate presence. We've achieved an interior corporate image subtly. Left to our own devises we might have got it wrong.”
